Happy September

Well it's September 1st and sorry no new outfit posts... for I am still sick. I mean come on, it's been since friday!! grrrr. Well in light of the new month, the new season, and the fact that all my art is up at the gallery ready for Friday (I have some free time now!) I'm compiling a motivational list for the next month. I want to set myself goals for each month and share them with you guys so I actually motivate myself to do them, because once you put it out there then it's kinda embarrassing when you slack off. So here are my goals.

1. Make 1 screen print edition this month.
I had a great time making my Goose Girl screen print (see last post) and it spurred me to remember how much I love the process. I of course need to get my house more arranged for the process but I'd love to start trying to maybe release a screen print every month. I've already got a few purchase inquiries so it can only get better, right?

2. Post an outfit at least 4 times a week.
I think I can do this one, as long as I get better. Go away sickies! I don't think you guys want to see a picture of my bright red nose right now.

3. Promote myself.
I've always been afraid to promote my artwork, because it is never where I want it to be. But I've realized being an artist means you are never going to be completely satisfied. You will always find something wrong with a drawing or painting, and that's a good thing. You only grow and get better when you learn from your mistakes. So I shouldn't keep putting off promoting myself until I get "better", I should just do it. I've been in some pretty important art shows so that means something. I got a little talent :)

4. Exercise.
Everyone says this one... But this summer I've noticed I've become a little lazy. It's too hot to ride my bike to work or go for jogs in the evening. But I need to do a physical activity at least 4 times a week for 20 minutes. I should walk my dog more, ride my bike to friends houses, or go to the gym (I do have a membership). During the winter I went to the gym almost every other day, and in March I ran a 5K in 32 minutes (which is good for a beginner!) So I know I can do better, so come one let's do this!

5. Draw
That's one thing I forget to do... just draw. Art takes so much practice and I feel so rusty. I need to draw something, anything daily, and it doesn't matter what it is of. So my sketchbook is going to get an overhaul!

So there are 5 goals set out for me. I of course have a few more little ones like, waking up earlier for work, and using mouth wash (tmi I know) but those are my goals for all to see. And maybe I'll give updates from time to time, I definitely will post in the end of the month on whether or not I keep to these goals, and if I don't please, please yell at me. :)

I like the idea, and I wish you all the best in getting those goals done this month. This makes me want to make a list of goals of my own. There are definitely things that I keep saying I want/need to do/get better at but never actually get around to any it.. frustrating. Hope you get better soon.

ps. that screen print from your last post was gorgeous - forgot to comment (it's easy to just read and then click away..)

These look like great monthly goals. About a week ago I went through a huge drawing spurt, where I felt like I had to be drawing every day. Sadly, it has sort of passed. I have to get back into the groove of things.

I hope you achieve all of these goals, mainly because a few of them are my goals as well. Exercise being the number one and also posting outfits more consistently. It's so difficult though, with school and all. Blah.
