Give Me a Head of Hair

Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me down to there, hair, shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there, momma, everywhere, daddy, daddy

Hair, flow it, show it
Long as God can grow, my hair

Let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas, in my hair
A home for fleas, a hive for the buzzing bees
A nest for birds, there ain't no words
For the beauty, splendor, the wonder of my hair

Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow, my hair

I want long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka dotted, twisted, beaded, braided
Powered, flowered and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled and spahettied

Oh say, can you see my eyes if you can
Then my hair's too short
Down with here, down to there
Down till there, down to where it's stuck by itself

They'll be ga-ga at the go-go, when they see me in my toga
My toga made of blond, brilliantined, biblical hair
My hair like Jesus wore it, Hallelujah I adore it
Hallelujah Mary loved her son, why don't my mother love me?

Hair, flow it, show it
Long as God can grow
My hair, flow it, show it
Long as God can grow
My hair, flow it, show it
Long as God can grow
My hair!!!!

Ah I love that song and I love my hair. You might remember me whining about how short my hair is so I thought I'd give you a run down Hair memory lane.

Highschool and Brazil
Um... I look very very young this was highschool in Brasil, but as you can see I always wore my hair back in a ponytail, little do you know that pony tail is super looong.

At a Formula 1 race showing my support! And there you see my everyday look, very very long ponytail.

This was from a modeling thing for school in Brazil, can you find me? Guilherme said I was unrecognizable... Everyone loved my hair in Brazil, I was an exotic blond, hahah.

Back in Ohio, Prom senior year... Oh I love that dress it was made for me when I was in Brazil, it has hand made lace and is super flowy. This was our silly face picture, and gosh I can't believe how big Guilherme's hair was.

College Years 2004-2008
Freshman year started with my ole timey hair, straight and no bangs. For christmas I flew down to Brazil to visit Guilherme and my friends and when I was down there I took the plunge and side swipe cut bangs... this was in the end of 2004, yep I've had bangs for that long now.

End of Freshman year, bangs and long hair, also I was extremely thin, I had really bad mono that year, got down to 110-115lbs... geez.

Right after my Freshman year of college I got dumped and lived at home, my last time living at home. I decided one night to chop of my hair, and I had to keep cutting it until it was straight. This was the result, the shortest hair I've ever had.

Sophmore year in college my hair was finally growing out and I started dating this really nice boy named Kevin... I wonder what he's up to now.

Junior year I had fun with temporary dye (I actually had pink hair most of sophmore year in highschool) and cut my bangs straight across, I know major changes. Haha

At a family function with my sisters, we all have straight thick hair, but other than that we look nothing alike, haha. So yeah my hair in it's natural form, dirty blond.

2008 - My hair at graduation. Bleached blond, straight bangs, and of course long! That was the first time I had ever permenantly dyed my hair. Eeek.

Beyond College 2008-Now
After college I continued my bleached blond hair. Gah my hair is sooo long!

In Alaska, summer 2009, I got my first haircut by a professional and got it dyed to fade into into my natural color, I was tired of bleached hair.

And then the big mistake. In december I applied for this major job and went through countless interviews to not get the job. I was really upset and decided to chop my hair. I'm still pissed off at myself. And I got a job as a Gallery Director so in the end it worked out, there was no need to cut my hair in anger. (Oh and in that picture, from February, you can see that if I braided my hair it stuck straight out.)

To try to counter act my anger of cut hair I dyed my hair red, in March, to see what I'd look like, my family is usally blonds or redheads.

And now here is my hair, slowly growing out. I'm tired of bangs... All I want is pretty, nice hair that compliments me. So what do you think, should I keep these 6 year old bangs or let it hang out? What else is good hair care advice, I seriously do nothing with my hair. I wash it everyday, and hardly use conditioner, and sometimes brush it. It's only been colored a few times, thick, doesn't hold a curl, and pretty flat... My hair grows pretty fast (or used to, for some reason it slowed down this year) and is pretty healthy, never use hair dryers, straightners, etc; never really had split ends.

So my lovelies, Help me on my next hair-venture! Well not really cause you can see I'm pretty boring when it comes to hair. Oh and this is probably bad, but I love having wet hair in the winter and it freezes, it's so fun to have it make crunching noises when you play with it... haha.

Huggles,
Lauren

A history of hair -- how fascinating!

And I'm old enough to remember when that song was on the radio all the time. :)

This is an interesting post! I was pleased to find another soul who cuts her hair in anger. I buzzed mine, not once, but twice!

Have you ever had layers?

Well, I would definitely not be a person you'd want to get hair advice from. I HATE long hair. On me, at least. My hair is so fine that when it is long it just looks flat and limp and tangles so easy. I always felt like I had puppy dog ears hanging down. Sad, droopy puppy dog ears.
But as far as the bangs go, it can be a bit of a pain, but do it. The only reason I like bangs is because you can hide your eyebrows and not pluck them for days and no one knows!

I think you look great with the side swept bangs! If you're tired of them though, maybe try something a little different, like baby bangs or blunt bangs?

Wow Lauren, you're one of those lucky people that look fab blonde or brunette! I don't know what it is, but I really like the darker color on you from while you were in Alaska. Maybe because it highlights your blue eyes? That cut was great too... if you're thinking of growing out the bangs, maybe go side swept next so that they grow in less awkwardly.
