The Bike Song - Mark Ronson

Been kinda obsessed with this song as well as the whole album. Really should look up the lyrics... I need this to be my motto. At least when the snow melts.

"...I’m gonna ride my bike until I get home.

I can’t understand it, but I can’t really stand them
Girls love cars, cars cause harm to the planet
Don’t you wanna take a joyride on my tandem.
Huffy on a Huffy, don’t I look so handsome.
Bikes suffice they’re so nice like priceless
Working on my calves to triceps to biceps
Bypass the gas, stop the traffic lights
I get around round without a drivers license

Hello, you walking? Farewell. I’m off then
And I whip it through the city with a 40 and a 50
Party popping on my wheelie..."

DIY Fest 2010

On Friday Kev and I rode our bikes down to Ferndale for the DIY Fest. It is a totally amazing festival with really good art and music, and drinks. I of course had the Mead wine... It's been a year now since I first tasted it's amazingness. I love it. We saw Maria playing in Outrageous Cherry and saw Sarms at his screen printing booth for his company Modati. As you can see Tripp came with us in our backpack and loved jamming to the tunes and dancing on stage. He's such such a party animal. haha!

Tripp loved Maria's drumming and Alex loves Tripp :)

Now for me and my fashionable friends

Kevin and Mike looking good :D

Johanna is always amazing looking, I'm always jealous of her outfits. She's too cute.

Maria after playing a sweet set.

Me with crazy eyes.

I wanted to go on Saturday but my dad, step mom and nephew were in town, so I spent some important family time with them.

EDIT: Another picture of my new to me, awesome Navy Hat... I'm so happy Kevin is slightly obsessed with World War II or I wouldn't have such sweet stuff at my house.

Lollapalooza 2010 Day 3

Day 3

The day started off raining and my weather.com app kept telling me there were going to be storms. But luckily there wasn't, I'd like to think it's cause I came prepared with ponchos. Lee and Maria went ahead and Kevin and I dallied around listening to bands as we passed stages. We got to hear a few songs of Blitzen Trapper, Mumford and Sons, Hockey, Minus the Bear, Yeasayer, and MUTEMATH. Then sat and staked out a spot for MGMT. They were good, but again the sound could've been louder. And there were really really annoying people surrounding me because MGMT is such a fad right now, everyone was there. And having really loud really annoying conversations.

I hung out with Kevin for a bit by the fountain before he made his way down to Soundgarden and I went to Arcade Fire. I caught the tail end of the Nationals set and when staking out my place for Arcade Fire I ran into Jade and Nico from Edward Sharpe got a obligatory photo with them, told them how great they sounded, and as I was posing with them, Jade told me I smelled really good and asked what I wearing. Haha! I said it's just how I smell... haha I didn't even wash my hair that day. I didn't know how to respond. But that was awesome.

I'm blushing

Arcade Fire. Amazing.

I'm really not a good writer so let me just say I was by myself at the concert but didn't feel like it. I danced and jumped and sang along with the throngs of people around me and I really experienced the music. They played Crown of Love which they don't often do and for the encore they played Wake Up. When it was over the crowd left singing the melody together.

Everyone found Waldo but he couldn't find his friends :(

It was truly amazing I can't believe I was there. We drove home around midnight, got out late because the valet "misplaced" my car, and didn't get home until about 6:30 am yesterday... I slept almost all day then dreaming of all the music.

Lollapalooza 2010 Day 2

Day 2

We went out for breakfast at a cafe across the street from Grant Park and unfortunately there were some religious extremists protesting the show, so that was somewhat annoying to have to listen to while eating breakfast, hearing how we are all going to hell for this sinful concert, yadda, yadda. They got pretty nasty calling people passing them some choice words. And then the security guards made me throw out my apple in my purse because you couldn't bring in food. Oh well.

Maria and Lee went to Soft Pack which we could hear but stayed in the shade near the stage. We heard some of Harlem, the Wild Beasts and the Stars! We were able to sit and watch the Stars which was wonderful, listening to them reminded me of freshman year in college... oh the memories.

The XX filled up really quickly so Kev and I walked around and made it down to Gogol Bordelo. They were awesome. Then we walked towards the best stage and band. Deer tick was playing but I was there waiting in anticipation for Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. As soon as Deer Tick was over Kev and I ran into the crowd and waited, and waited. Then they began! It was the best concert experience ever. The crowd was beautiful, singing and swaying and clapping along with the tunes. It was so great to see so many people so into a band and I allowed myself that fan worship. I was a dancing fool in a crowed pit of fans. For the encore Alex jumped into the crowd (earlier he crowd surfed) and had everyone sit down as he serenaded us. I tried to shake his hand after the show but Kevin didn't throw me far enough into the crowd.

Here's a little video not by me of the encore, I highly suggest you look up more of the performance on youtube
And that wasn't the last I saw of them... more on that one later!

We walked around some more and heard Cut Copy as we waited for Phoenix. Listened to them a bit then made it down to Empire of the Sun, who were incredible. They had dancers in crazy outfits and had crazy headdress thingers on. We met up later with a bunch of friends who saw Green Day (I could hear them but really didn't care to see them).

For late night dinner we took the L to Avec which is a French/Basque small plates restaurant. The food was good and pricely but luckily we weren't too hungry and all shared.

Lollapalooza 2010 Day 1

This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The music was amazing, the crowds were amazing, and my friends I went with were amazing. So prepare yourself for 3 big posts, I divided them cause one would be too overwhelming....

We drove out to Chicago thursday night and checked in to the Allerton Hotel, which is a beautiful old hotel. Maria, Lee, Kev and I shared a "one" person room which was actually very roomy.

It was so great with Lee and Maria, especially cause we all match, matching hair and matching boyfriends, they are just the Italian version and Kev and I are the Irish/German version. The boys even have their cute matching mustaches.

Day 1

We got off to an early start this morning thanks to Chicago being in central time zone, went out for breakfast then stood in a MASSIVE crowd waiting for the doors to open. We started the concert experience with Wavves and it was great, the crowd was still small, the sound was good, and the beer was cold.

After that Kev and I decided to walk around a bit and get the lay of the land, with doing that we got to hear some of American Bang and then we made our way over to Devo... which unfortunately was playing at the same time as the New Pornographers, but we have seen them before so decided to skip them. Let me tell you Devo was awesome, I'm so happy I saw them, those guys really know how to play.

Eh I look kinda frumpy and sooo white here.

Then we tried to hear the Black Keys, but the sound was absolutely awful as was the crowd, and since we've already seen them play an amazing concert we decided to grab some food and make a stake out for Lady Gaga.

While waiting for Gaga we listened to Chromeo, who were very good. Lady Gaga's concert was good but it seemed they were still working sound kinks outs, because you had to be really close to get good sound. But it was a great experience, kinda sad that I missed the Strokes but hey you can't see everything.

At Lady Gaga!
