Travel: Tripp Trips

After years of not going home for the past three Christmases, this year I decided to go home, and not only bring myself and Mike, but also bring the dog along. I was soooo nervous, cause if any of you have met my dog, he can be a barker. But I bought the carrier months in advance and trained him to go lay in his "travel case" and also made him sleep in it at night a few times so he'd get used to the case, we also got him a soft fabric muzzle which when he wears it he kinda submits and doesn't get too whiny. Also my vet was able to prescribe him a light sedative so that he wouldn't get too anxious. Before going to the airport, we stuffed his carrier with a blanket and a used pillow case so he had our smell with him, and lots of stuff to lay on, and gave him his meds. Driving to the airport Tripp cried in hi little carrier and I was so nervous, I didn't want to be the person on a red eye flight with a barking dog... sound worse than having a crying baby. But as soon as we stepped foot in the airport I think the sedatives hit him. The front counter people inspected him, his carrier and his documents, which Tripp just laid there and didn't care. Then I had to carry him through a the old school metal detector and the TSA agents thought he was so cute.

The first flight he got a little whiny cause our flight was delayed but he soon got quiet once I carried him around. When we got onto the flight he quietly yelped a bit when people were boarding and the flight attendants were over the loud speaker but I had the carrier on my lap and petted him, when ready for takeoff I put the carrier under the seat in front of me, which the carrier fit perfectly, I was really afraid of that since this was a small plane going from SF to LA.

After that flight we had a short layover in LAX then were off again. Tripp didn't make a peep the entire time and was so good. I'm really impressed. I let him stick his head out of the carrier when we were getting off the final flight, and the woman beside us was surprised when he popped his head out! We had to hang out in the Indianapolis airport for a couple hours waiting to be picked up (for some reason flying to Indy was WAY cheaper than any Ohio flight) which we got Tripp out and walked him around the front and baggage claim. There were so many dogs I saw in all the airports, I saw more than 6, and these weren't all small dogs. I guess the holidays is the time for pet travel!

Here's some quick pics I took while traveling. I'd suggest that if you've been thinking about taking your dog, try it. But remember there's lots of prep work getting him used to the carrier and getting his medical paperwork. Every airline has their own rules, and there's only so many dogs allowed each flight, so you have to call the airline ahead of time. But Tripp is not a perfect dog, some might say he's annoying, but he was able to make a flight without any disturbance or too much anxiety (he was a bit shaky the first flight cause it was so loud), of coarse he had some medical help ;)

Happy Holidays,

Tripp Tuesday | A Day in the Life of a Cali-pup

Since moving here I have surely started turning into a typical "Californian" (or maybe just a nor-cal stereotype?)... Having a different special diet, driving a hybrid, occasional use of the word "hella", complaining about not having snow or much rain, and starting to completely baby my pooch (sorry Cali-kids for teasing ;).

Tripp now has a fancier diet that includes an add water meal with dried meats and veggies once a week,  plus occasional rice porridge I make him along with his regular lamb/rice daily meal. He goes on puppy adventures three times a week with his pup-buds and my dogwalker. And I dress him up in sweaters, kerchiefs and scarves. Yep I started dressing him up, I'm sorry but it's so stinking cute!! Especially how much he hated his christmas antlers.

This past weekend he had quite a sunday, starting off at the beach, then chilling in a SF park, then cuddles at mike's house, and finally sleeping all snuggled in my bed. He was quite a rag doll at the end of the day. I hope it made up for him staying home while I sailed on Saturday.

In honor of Tripp Tuesday (which I haven't done in awhile), here are some instagram snaps of his sunday adventure... look at him sporting that scarf!

What Have I Been Up To?

Sorry for the absence... but I've been super busy preparing for my move across country on FRIDAY! I can't believe it's here! Next week I'll be camping with my best friend Lee as we make our way across the country ending in Oakland where I get to become a Californian! AH!

So lately I've just been spending time with friends and family and spent my last midwest Saturday night in Detroit with my friends surrounding me. It was awesome. Here are some snippets of the past week, including hanging with my nephew and family and watching my sister race!

I have some details about my trip planned with inspirational outfits to go along with the sights! I don't plan on dressing up too much for the trip since most of my clothing is all packed up and doesn't lend well to driving for hours and hiking. But I have some wonderful post lined up for some amazing ladies and their four legged friends that I'm sure Tripp will even be jealous of. Until then here is a new Tripp on Stuff post (make sure to follow it on tumblr! I just changed the addy)

ALSO, to keep up to date with my travels, I'm now on Instagram (sparrow_urchin), and of course gotta love my Twitter (@moyerdestroyer)!!!

What I Wore: 100 Degrees

Today we had a designer meeting in our showroom so the morning was filled with yummy muffins, coffee, and chit chatting... Unfortunately the afternoon dragged on as people slowed down because of the heat. Driving home was the worse. I have no air in my car (it's broken) and with the windows down the only air I was getting was being pelt in the face my hot air. yuck...

So considering the disgusting heat we've been having I haven't taken pictures of my clothes this week... and I've actually been dressing very nice!! Thankfully I put in a window air conditioner in my room last night so I thought I'd give you a tour of the only cool room in my house (yeah I have no air in the house either).

When Kevin moved out the first thing I did was redo my bedroom. He took the mattress and bedframe and whatnot, so I decorated it to my little hearts desire! I painted the walls pretty mint green and rearranged everything! I still had lots of plans on what to do with stuff but I don't think I'll be doing much more to the room. I absolutely love my big four post bed and having no dresser helps open up the space and let the light from my wall of windows in. And I got a Queen bed... oh me and Tripp just have tons of room to snuggle at night.

Also I did an over haul on my closet... I thought I didn't have many clothes but boy, I think I have a ton (I'm sure some of you girls can put me to shame!) I love that I can hang everything and have a built in for my tees, jeans, and unmentionables. And I've found clever ways to store things like my shoes and dirty laundry (keeping them from the pesky puppy!) using wall storage and under the bed storage (this bed is super high up and allows so much under it!!)

So for todays scorcher I wore some new sandals and a silk dress, boy it helped so much. It's been really hot here. The fabric was so light and airy it felt like nothing yet still was great for the meeting I hosted this morning... oh but my hair was down and all pretty... I had to put it up on the ride home.

Tripp Tuesday: Tripp on Stuff

For this Tripp Tuesday I direct you to his new tumblr: Tripp on stuff.

It's an informational blog where Tripp sits on things that you could trip on. So that you are aware of the dangers of tripping. No one wants a broken hip here.

Where I've Been: Ohio

A couple weeks ago I went down to Ohio to hang out with my mom who had the weekend off and get my car fixed. Saturday morning Tripp and I got up early and took a long walk through Hills & Dale park that behind my mom's house. I grew up in those woods and recently the cities redid the park and added some nice trails and a lake. It's really nice now, but sometimes gets crowded... It used to be the park of me and my friends, no one else would be around. I'm happy they fixed the park up but of course the nostalgia of what it was is now gone.

And just so you know I love taking pictures of Tripp on top of things... So be prepared for more pictures like this. It all started in Louisville when I put him on a statue, since then I've been obsessed. It's just so darn cute.

One of the mansions in my hometown... they have pet swans... yeah. swans.

The watertower by my mom's house, it makes a funny noise when you throw stones at it, and I think it looks like something from the old suerman cartoons, like the really old ones by MGM.

Tripp sitting on my mom's front porch... Soooo cute.

What I Wore: Red & Blue

This rain here has been awful... So dreary. Luckily this outfit brightened my day a bit. I always forget how getting nicely dressed can make any day better. And I always forget about this jean jacket... It was my old flatmate Mike's exgirlfriends... we found it in his stuff when he was moving out... haha I love free stuff.

And with this outfit (from last wednesday) I would like to say goodbye May!!! We had some good times, and some bad... and some really good season finales. Um... did anyone watch Bones? OMG?! Squeal worthy, now fanfiction will have to hold me over till next season. Yep, I'm a nerd.

Tripp goes to School

Oh lookie there, it's Tripp Tuesday!!!

So on Wednesday I start private training with my little buddy Tripp. I'm really excited. Tripp is super smart but I really need to be able to control him better, he's a brat and likes not to listen. And with all the plans coming to fruition in the fall, he needs to be his best!! I've been wanting to do formal training since I got him, but with the recent events in my life I've started to take more initiative and make plans. So Tripp is starting school. The trainer really likes him, and I hope we can learn how to deal with Tripp properly, he's scared sometimes because when I adopted him he had been abused, and he sometimes gets very defensive or scared and barks/mouths.

Oh and another thing I took initiative on... I bought a Canon T3. Yay! I have a DSLR of my own now... No more borrowing my work camera. This past weekend I was in Ohio and took some great pictures with it (mainly of Tripp... I think he will become a staple of the blog). I can't wait to upload them later this week.

I also scanned in some great photos from my past, and some "racy" ones from freshman year when my Photographer friend used me as a model. I'll have to show you them... they are so cute. (and by racy, I don't mean too overtly sexual or anything, but they definitely are Freshman year art school... haha!)

Until then...

Huggles, Lauren

Oh and I want to thank everyone for the emails and comments concerning my recent split... It took a lot for me to finally open up to your guys, and I feel so much better letting it out in the open. I need to respond to everyone which I will get too... just haven't sat myself down to write you all. Love you.

Doggy Daycare

So I'm bit behind on days... Oh well. That's what scheduling posts is for! So this little slice of life has nothing to with this outfit but I'd love your opinion.

When kevin and I are at work our dog stays at home, which I know isn't the best, when we first got him I worked part time and opposite of Kevin, so I had lot's of pup time. And with winter and Tripp being so small and skinny he isn't in the yard as much or going on long walks. So last Sunday Kevin and I had a lot of wedding errands to run (got him a suit from Banana Republic, it's gorg, and did more registry stuff) So we felt bad for leaving the dog at home. So what did we do? Took him to doggy day care at Petsmart near the mall. I know I know, kinda lame. But he was so worn out when we picked him up at the end of the day and the workers said he played with a lot of dogs. They even give you a report card on how well your dog did that day. Tripp was sooo tuckered out that he fell asleep in the car, and we were able to get a lot done around the house the rest of the evening.

Now onto Friday. I knew that Kevin and I were going to go to an art opening in Romeo Friday night so I thought while I was at work I'd drop him back off at Petsmart (which is really near my job). I just didn't like leaving my dog alone all day then also in the evening, not to mention that he would be a total pain when we got home.

So my question is am I ridiculous? I mean the day care thing isn't too expensive for something once in awhile. But I also don't want to be one of those people who replace children with dogs. I'm my dog's owner, caregiver and companion, I'm not his mother, my parents aren't his grandparents. We are companions, friends, and I love and care for him. Kevin feels like we are being responsible pet owners, understanding that it's wrong to leave a social animal alone all day, and also realizing that interaction is necessary in our dog's life and something we strive for. I've always been very conscious about treating animals fairly and as part of the family. My parents kinda chuckled when I told them about his day care experience, and told me I was a little ridic. My mom laughed saying I need to start dressing my dog, of course jokingly, she secretly wants my dog. I grew up with dogs but they never got as much special treatment as my own dog. But then again they were never alone for long hours.

Anyway what do you think? Ridiculous or Responsible?

And for all my new readers, first welcome, and this is my dog... cute! He obviously didn't want to leave his pup tent :D

Now for the outfit... I flubbed on the 30x30... I can't find this cardigan, so I replaced it with another grey cardigan... Please don't hate! :)

Girl Gots the Blues

So sadly the first picture was the last one before my camera battery died... Kevin has a really good ability of sucking batteries dry, I don't get it. I hand him the camera and the battery dies... Odd. Anyway the other two are with my iPhone, sorry about the quality. These pictures actually were from the day before yesterday... Oh no my numbering is getting off! And I still haven't loaded the pictures from Day 19... I'm awful ha!

As you can see I've kinda revamped my layout. I still will be tweeking it but I'd love to hear what you think.

Anywho, we were busy today at work. Sweet tits.
