Guest Post: Don Juan's Reckless Daughter and her pups!

Hello, lovely readers of Sparrow & Urchin! Meg from Don Juan's Reckless Daughter here and lucky me(!!) to have been given my very own guest post while Lauren and Tripp make there trek across the country. I am so excited for them...though, admittedly, I'm longing for that kind of an adventure myself. For now, the hills and canyons of Los Angeles are my playground. I have lived in LA for about 5 years and Laurel Canyon (my neighborhood) is one of my absolute favorite places in this city. It is a particularly good place to explore with your doggies because there are loads of trails, winding roads and vantage points (plus a very large dog park up on Mulholland).

a map of the canyon...
The only slight obstacle being the wildlife that also roams the area (coyotes, hawks, deer and snakes...) but they tend to stay away during the late morning/early afternoon. I suppose the other thing to consider when planning a mini-adventure is the pint-sized nature of my dogs...meet Charlie & Lola!
Lola (on the left) is 7 and Charlie (on the right & actually a girl, despite her name!) is 2 & a half - they are both Chihuahuas, in case you couldn't tell! Clearly, we aren't going on 5 mile hikes with such small creatures because they'd never make it with out being picked up! but shorter walks they can handle.
An example of many of the back roads in our area.
If I walk the dogs on my own this is what ends up happening...I'm gently pulled in opposite directions. Either that or I get tangled up! Luckily, my boyfriend is with me more often then not on our walks!
Sometimes I just get flat out ignored by the girls. But I know they love me anyway...
Well, thanks so much for having us! see you soon. x

LA pt. 3: Summer Fun

Sorry for the delays!

Summer Fun

Two weeks ago I was in LA for Kevin's (my boyfriend) brothers wedding which he was a groomsman. So cute. We stayed at an amazing Hostel in West Hollywood right next door to some of my friends, the hostel was Orbit on Melrose, I highly recommend it, everyone was so nice there.

So for post #3 here are some of my favorite photos from bumming around LA. We drove around on Mulholland Dr., me and Marlee walked around Santa Monica and Shopped on Rodeo Dr., Kev, Marlee, Me and the Dunn Fam had the time of our lives at Disney Land, we walked the Venice Beach, Kev and I watched the moon over the water sitting on rocks in Malibu, bummed around the Labrea Tarpits, and I had an amazing time hanging out with my college buddies in LA; Ken, See, and Tony. So much for four days. It was incredible.

Exploring Hollywood and Mulholland Dr.

You find Detroit anywhere, but what's strange is that the houses on
the street were nice!

Oh! Kevin's hands are the same as Han Solo! He's in heaven.

LA pt. 2: Wedding

Sorry for the delays!

Wedding

Last week and weekend I was in LA for Kevin's (my boyfriend) brothers wedding which he was a groomsman. So cute. We stayed at an amazing Hostel in West Hollywood right next door to some of my friends, the hostel was Orbit on Melrose, I highly recommend it, everyone was so nice there.
So for post #2 here are some of my favorite photos! Sorry I didn't get a full body pic, but hopefully Kev's parents did!

Kevin thought I looked as though I was from Tatooine, and I have to agree, very khaki outfit like a desert person would wear. Oh Star Wars....

Well the wedding was awesome and the dancing was better, we managed to clear the dance floor! YAY!

LA pt. 1: Rehearsal

So I'm breaking up my LA trip into 3 parts,
1: Rehearsal, 2: Wedding, 3: Recreation.
All the posts will be very photo heavy I'm sorry!!

Rehearsal

Last week and weekend I was in LA for Kevin's (my boyfriend) brothers wedding which he was a groomsman. So cute. We stayed at an amazing Hostel in West Hollywood right next door to some of my friends, the hostel was Orbit on Melrose, I highly recommend it, everyone was so nice there.

So for post #1 here are some pictures of the Rehearsal Dinner and then after when I met up with some of my college buddies. The square photos were taken with the app Hiptasmatic on my iPhone, I know I'm such a hipster I even use foursquare... hehe

The restaurant was C&O Cucina in Marina del Rey in LA. It was sooo good, I have a burrito for lunch at Paco's Tacos (super yummy too) so I was still stuffed when it came to dinner... I wanted to eat soo much but held back. We had a large party so it was all family style dinning, they brought tons of dishes out and we all dove in. Very good!

The dress I wore was my mom's from the 70's that she made. She actually wore it to her own rehearsal dinner. HA! How funny is that. It's a beautiful halter, and the fabric is amazing, it isn't made anymore she says. But alas I don't have that good of an image so I have a substitute image of the pattern (I've taken pictures of most all my dresses for my own reference hehe)
