Tripp the Iron Stomach

For this Tripp Tuesday I decided to go a different route, not the "oh my dog is so cute" but the truth about my dog. My dog is a fatty. Not physically but he has the eyes and appetite of a giant. He eats EVERYTHING... well at least everything that's somewhat edible. He knows shoes, potatoes, and couches won't sustain him. But coffee, chocolate, sugar free gum, corn cobs, chicken bones, underwear, socks? They're all ok in his book.

Let me take you through Tripp's most recent adventures as a foodie.

When I moved out here Tripp, Leyland and I drove all the way here. So one night Leyland and I were in a restaurant enjoying a nice meal after a long day of hiking. Tripp was sleeping soundly in the front seat of the car... Or so we thought. We got back to the car and low and behold, Tripp tore open a plastic cup holder pack of Orbit gum... Cool doggy, it's not like the sweetener Xylitol isn't poisonous to you. So I texted my vet friend and she told me to give him water and monitor his heart rate, because even if I wanted to take him to the vet I couldn't.... we were in Yellowstone, and there was no vet within 100 miles. Thanks Tripp! After I got to civilization, aka my new home, he got all his blood work done, and the vet surprisingly said there was no damage done. Good boy Tripp!

Let's fast forward a year and a half. It's Christmas time and my awesome mom sends lonely ole me a great care package, with presents and... sweets! One in particular is a Killer Brownie. I'm sure the name says it all, it's fudgey and caramely and peanuty and about 4x the size of a regular brownie. So guess what, Tripp jumps on the table (Just so you know he's 14lbs, smaller than most cats, but has the ups of a kitty) while I'm outside and eats the entire thing. Ok. Cool. So I get to spend the night before Christmas with my dog that's vomiting for 9 hours. All over everything... chocolate vomit. So straight away in the morning I rush over to the vet for an emergency visit. It's a good thing my dog easily pukes because that would be the only thing they would do other than check his heart rate and take a blood sample. So they do all what they do at the vet and everything in him was fine, but just to be sure lets feed him some charcoal to soak any toxins up. You know what then happens... He pukes the charcoal all over the light gray upholstery of my new car. Terrific Tripp. I got that cleaned right away and Tripp was a little sick acting for a day, but soon was to his regular self and back to being a perky pup.

Now for the latest... I fixed myself a nice dinner including a yummy cob of corn. After moving out of the cornland midwest I haven't enjoyed a nice cob o' corn in awhile. I was working on a project and mistakingly left my plate scraps on the table while I left the room for a few minutes. I walk back into the room and there's Tripp sitting happily on the ground with pieces of corncob surrounding him. Let me remind you this is a 14lb dog, and he ate an entire corncob. For some of you who might not know corncobs are one of the most dangerous things for any digestive tract, as you know I'm sure corn doesn't digest, so think about any big cob chunks... They won't digest and can get stuck if too large to pass. Which is incredibly common in dogs and causing them to have to get expensive surgery to remove the cob-struction. So of course emotional me, freaked out. I was about to give Tripp some hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting but Mike found me an open 24hr vet. So one x-ray and induced vomit later... they weren't sure. His stomach was so full that the xray showed nothing helpful. The only options, a scope down his throat, which probably wouldn't show anything or get an xray in the morning to see if his stomach is emptying. So we waited. And after the second x-ray they said it was still unsure, but he seemed completely fine... other than everyone looking at him in amazement that he ate a corncob. So over the next week Tripp had rancid farts and I monitored his pooping. And you know what, he's fine. But thank you Tripp for the adventure.

So there's my couple years adventures with Tripp's iron stomach. I could tell you about many other things he's gotten into but I'll just leave you with the highlights. I love my dog, but his appetite needs some adjusting or he's going to make me have a nervous breakdown. If it was up to him he'd be dragging his tummy on the ground and eating anything with a hazardous label. So yeah, all you with dogs, I'm sure you have great stories of the incredible appetites of your canine friends. And I want to hear it!

One last thing, pet insurance... best $10 a month I spend.

Tripp Tuesday | A Day in the Life of a Cali-pup

Since moving here I have surely started turning into a typical "Californian" (or maybe just a nor-cal stereotype?)... Having a different special diet, driving a hybrid, occasional use of the word "hella", complaining about not having snow or much rain, and starting to completely baby my pooch (sorry Cali-kids for teasing ;).

Tripp now has a fancier diet that includes an add water meal with dried meats and veggies once a week,  plus occasional rice porridge I make him along with his regular lamb/rice daily meal. He goes on puppy adventures three times a week with his pup-buds and my dogwalker. And I dress him up in sweaters, kerchiefs and scarves. Yep I started dressing him up, I'm sorry but it's so stinking cute!! Especially how much he hated his christmas antlers.

This past weekend he had quite a sunday, starting off at the beach, then chilling in a SF park, then cuddles at mike's house, and finally sleeping all snuggled in my bed. He was quite a rag doll at the end of the day. I hope it made up for him staying home while I sailed on Saturday.

In honor of Tripp Tuesday (which I haven't done in awhile), here are some instagram snaps of his sunday adventure... look at him sporting that scarf!

What Have I Been Up To?

Sorry for the absence... but I've been super busy preparing for my move across country on FRIDAY! I can't believe it's here! Next week I'll be camping with my best friend Lee as we make our way across the country ending in Oakland where I get to become a Californian! AH!

So lately I've just been spending time with friends and family and spent my last midwest Saturday night in Detroit with my friends surrounding me. It was awesome. Here are some snippets of the past week, including hanging with my nephew and family and watching my sister race!

I have some details about my trip planned with inspirational outfits to go along with the sights! I don't plan on dressing up too much for the trip since most of my clothing is all packed up and doesn't lend well to driving for hours and hiking. But I have some wonderful post lined up for some amazing ladies and their four legged friends that I'm sure Tripp will even be jealous of. Until then here is a new Tripp on Stuff post (make sure to follow it on tumblr! I just changed the addy)

ALSO, to keep up to date with my travels, I'm now on Instagram (sparrow_urchin), and of course gotta love my Twitter (@moyerdestroyer)!!!

What I Wore: Red & Blue

This rain here has been awful... So dreary. Luckily this outfit brightened my day a bit. I always forget how getting nicely dressed can make any day better. And I always forget about this jean jacket... It was my old flatmate Mike's exgirlfriends... we found it in his stuff when he was moving out... haha I love free stuff.

And with this outfit (from last wednesday) I would like to say goodbye May!!! We had some good times, and some bad... and some really good season finales. Um... did anyone watch Bones? OMG?! Squeal worthy, now fanfiction will have to hold me over till next season. Yep, I'm a nerd.

Tripp goes to School

Oh lookie there, it's Tripp Tuesday!!!

So on Wednesday I start private training with my little buddy Tripp. I'm really excited. Tripp is super smart but I really need to be able to control him better, he's a brat and likes not to listen. And with all the plans coming to fruition in the fall, he needs to be his best!! I've been wanting to do formal training since I got him, but with the recent events in my life I've started to take more initiative and make plans. So Tripp is starting school. The trainer really likes him, and I hope we can learn how to deal with Tripp properly, he's scared sometimes because when I adopted him he had been abused, and he sometimes gets very defensive or scared and barks/mouths.

Oh and another thing I took initiative on... I bought a Canon T3. Yay! I have a DSLR of my own now... No more borrowing my work camera. This past weekend I was in Ohio and took some great pictures with it (mainly of Tripp... I think he will become a staple of the blog). I can't wait to upload them later this week.

I also scanned in some great photos from my past, and some "racy" ones from freshman year when my Photographer friend used me as a model. I'll have to show you them... they are so cute. (and by racy, I don't mean too overtly sexual or anything, but they definitely are Freshman year art school... haha!)

Until then...

Huggles, Lauren

Oh and I want to thank everyone for the emails and comments concerning my recent split... It took a lot for me to finally open up to your guys, and I feel so much better letting it out in the open. I need to respond to everyone which I will get too... just haven't sat myself down to write you all. Love you.

Humpday and the 30x30 Remix Hump

So I admit it that this 30x30 remix is hard. On Sunday I didn't take any pictures, but this was pretty much my outfit. On Monday I wore my painting clothes because I was painting the display case at work. And if you follow my twitter you might have seen things about Kevin and I getting caught in the freezing rain/snow storm that happened on Sunday. It took us about 3x the amount of time to get from Toledo to Detroit... Then I had to shovel my car I left at home out of the street and move it for the plows... Didn't go to sleep until 2:30a. So Monday morning I was not excited to dress up and the commute was awful! No streets were plowed not even the main road in Metro Detroit, Woodward Ave...

So here's my outfit on Tuesday. Casual. I dropped my car off Monday afternoon to have all 4 brakes fixed, needed everything and the back drum brakes were leaking. Sooo, I had to walk to the auto shop Tuesday morning to pick up my car. I wasn't about to where a skirt! So yep, this was my outfit, minus the snow boots I wore outside. They are my Brown and Mint Green Sorels that Kevin bought me, I love them.

And even though I'm posting this on Wednesday, I took pictures with the dog for Tripp Tuesdays. I really am obsessed with my dog... Oh well.

And I saw this on Erin's blog, Better than Bland. Here's a little halfway recap!

Busy Bee

Well even though Kevin has been out of town I've been busy and stressed. Studying for GRE vocabulary makes my head spin... I really dislike analogies and antonyms. Grrr... See I look angry in most my pictures ;) But I did manage to run everyday for few days now and stretch. And to top that off, do you know how many places are already booked for next summer in terms of wedding reception. And of course I will probably have a pretty big wedding... Kevin's catholic... haha they have huge families :)

Anyway here are some pictures I shot last night. Not the best, and pretty wrinkly, but man I really don't have time. I do love this pic with Tripp and my Owl bank that Joe gave me. My first birthday present I got this year! haha.

Oh and you ladies that want to do the 12 days of xmas, I will be emailing you soon about it! So excited.

What's New?

Well I took a couple pictures at the gallery, but didn't really like how they came out. So I had Kevin take some pics when he got home. It's a day late for Tripp tuesday, but he always deserves some time on this blog.

So this is one of the blouses and skirts I also bought at the big UO sale I went to. I love this skirt, it's by the Cooperative brand which I now have a lot by that company, 3 dresses, two skirts, a top... I love their stuff a lot. Anyway I don't want to sound like a commercial, but I like them.

Last night while I was waiting for Kevin to get home, eating a burrito, and watching a bunch of cake shows on the tv, I remember I had cake mix, and Kevin's birthday is on Thursday. So I forced myself off my comfy couch and made him some cupcakes. I never use store bought icing so for these I made a poor man's chocolate mousse. I used a larger pack of instant chocolate pudding, made that with a little less milk then after it sets up you fold in a package of cool whip... It's soooo good... I already had one today. haha!

Tripp Tuesdays } Who's Afraid of the Robot?

To my surprise I came home on Friday to a Robot name Gog who was terrorizing my dog. Gog was using our bicycles and even slid down our porch slide. Tripp yelped and yelped at this terrible beast and soon enough triumphed over the metallic being. Thank goodness that robot won't be stealing anymore medicine from old people.
