Doggy Daycare

So I'm bit behind on days... Oh well. That's what scheduling posts is for! So this little slice of life has nothing to with this outfit but I'd love your opinion.

When kevin and I are at work our dog stays at home, which I know isn't the best, when we first got him I worked part time and opposite of Kevin, so I had lot's of pup time. And with winter and Tripp being so small and skinny he isn't in the yard as much or going on long walks. So last Sunday Kevin and I had a lot of wedding errands to run (got him a suit from Banana Republic, it's gorg, and did more registry stuff) So we felt bad for leaving the dog at home. So what did we do? Took him to doggy day care at Petsmart near the mall. I know I know, kinda lame. But he was so worn out when we picked him up at the end of the day and the workers said he played with a lot of dogs. They even give you a report card on how well your dog did that day. Tripp was sooo tuckered out that he fell asleep in the car, and we were able to get a lot done around the house the rest of the evening.

Now onto Friday. I knew that Kevin and I were going to go to an art opening in Romeo Friday night so I thought while I was at work I'd drop him back off at Petsmart (which is really near my job). I just didn't like leaving my dog alone all day then also in the evening, not to mention that he would be a total pain when we got home.

So my question is am I ridiculous? I mean the day care thing isn't too expensive for something once in awhile. But I also don't want to be one of those people who replace children with dogs. I'm my dog's owner, caregiver and companion, I'm not his mother, my parents aren't his grandparents. We are companions, friends, and I love and care for him. Kevin feels like we are being responsible pet owners, understanding that it's wrong to leave a social animal alone all day, and also realizing that interaction is necessary in our dog's life and something we strive for. I've always been very conscious about treating animals fairly and as part of the family. My parents kinda chuckled when I told them about his day care experience, and told me I was a little ridic. My mom laughed saying I need to start dressing my dog, of course jokingly, she secretly wants my dog. I grew up with dogs but they never got as much special treatment as my own dog. But then again they were never alone for long hours.

Anyway what do you think? Ridiculous or Responsible?

And for all my new readers, first welcome, and this is my dog... cute! He obviously didn't want to leave his pup tent :D

Now for the outfit... I flubbed on the 30x30... I can't find this cardigan, so I replaced it with another grey cardigan... Please don't hate! :)

Tear Down Walls & Start Again

I felt very 70's in this outfit today... This crop top from Chloe is so cute and looks great with my Grandpa's Navy Pants! I really like how plain this outfit is but then you have the lace detail in the top and the big necklace, and bam! It's a purdy outfit :) I also think it's funny I had a Boaters hat on and Navy Pants, haha soo nautical. Oh, sorry for the amount of glasses pictures, I just haven't wanted to wear my contacts, I really dislike my glasses.

Jen and I took these pictures next door where I used to live. Where we're standing use to be my living room. Yep, I used to hang out there with a roof over my head. They tore down the house a couple months ago. It's strange moving next door and watching your old house be torn down.

The local firefighters were practicing on the house to learn how to cut vents and escape opening in case a house was on fire... So why do I bring this house up? Well it was the first place Kevin and I lived together. It was where we had our parties, met new neighbors, learned to love Royal Oak, and friends came to hang out. It's really hard watching that be torn down. But it was also a place that I wouldn't ever want to live again. Every relationship has issues and sometimes hit a really hard part. That house represented it to me. It's bittersweet seeing it gone. But one part of me just wishes I could have back the first few months living in that dump (it really was a dump). I had just graduated and so hopeful for the future. But time showed all that came from that house was a year full of trials, hardships, job losses, and heart aches. Life can be hard, and it sucks, but sometimes you just need to move 50 feet away to try to find a new beginning. Shed the old you and find someone new out of the rubble.

That house is gone, and I need to continue with my life; I can't wish for school again, cause it's gone like the house; I can't get upset that my friends are moving away for careers and new lives; I need to let those feelings of miss and longing go, and move forward even if it's just next door or hundreds of miles away. This past year and a half has been very rough for me, there's been so much turmoil in my life. And it's hard being away from family and childhood friends. I hope this struggle with myself over this period of time soon becomes clear, I have wonderful new and old friends, a good job, and great prospects for grad school. Sorry for being mopey sounding, I just wish that this next year is great and that all those hurt feelings of insecurity and jealousy were destroyed when that house came down.

But I will always remember the amazing times I did have and that I miss so badly.

Again sorry if this is too much life for you to read. But we all are human and we all have problems and need a hug. I don't want to be like some bloggers and not be completely honest, life sucks sometimes. But sometimes it doesn't, I am so excited about this clothing exchange I am a part of and getting to know these incredible girls. So yeah, sometimes you have to tear down the old moldy walls and build up some fresh ones... with lots of windows for sunshine, haha

S&U On Tour } The Henry Ford

Mmmmm... Faygo Rock n Rye.

This weekend was great and sad, Mike moved out, but Jen and Matt moved in! And Mike made it to London safely, I'm jealous that he lives across from Tate Modern.... On saturday Kevin finally sold his old Monte Carlo, I was lazy and at night Pritch, Kev and I played Halo... I am very bad at video games haha!

That's one big train. Biggin'

Camping please? Yes, Hippy style.

I wish I had that many friends so we could test this bikes turn radius.

Today Kevin and I went on an adventure to the Henry Ford Museum. We decided to dress all proper like and explore in style. Kevin wore a cardigan I bought him and tie. I decided to tryout a modern industrialist style. I really liked it :D We turned some heads too. We ate in the Michigan cafe which was amazing, it had alot of local food like Faygo in glass bottles and Kevin had whitefish.

Kennedy's car... the roof was added later.

"Hey guess what I'm standing in front of?" Lauren gabbed on her iPhone, "A whole bunch of phones! How ironic!"

Kevin watches the generator spin 'round and 'round. It's pretty big, and in real life would have been going ten times the speed, it's like 150 years old too.

I'm jumping in this generator!!! You can't stop me signs!
Lauren listens to the news broadcast about the Martians taking over and Kevin practices his "Duck and Cover" skills at school

After we saw all the feats in industry we stopped back by the cafe to snack on some local ice cream. It was so yummy.

I'm in love with this color blue and this stairwell, I want them both in my bedroom.

On the way home we stopped by H&M  and Kevin got a button up shirt and some amazing olive green corduroy pants... I may steal them. So yeah... awesome day. And that last picture... Isn't Kev so cute? He thinks he looked silly wearing the hat like that. I think he looks handsome, he's such a little model.

Sorry for the heavy heavy image use on this post, Kevin and I just had so much fun and took a ton of pictures. You can see the rest here on my flickr.
