I'ma Purdy Girl

So for Kevin's birthday he asked to go out for seafood. Asking around work I decided to take him to Streetside Seafood in Birmingham, MI. And oh my, it was amazing. We started with drinks at the bar while waiting for our table, and they were delicious, I just told the bartender to make me a fun drink so I don't even know what it was :) It tasted a little like root beer. Then we sat down scarfed down some amazing bread, had a shrimp appetizer then awaited the main course. Kevin had the special, pan seared Yellow Tail Jack, and I had Crab topped Whitefish.... mmmmm.... I miss the taste. It was incredible. And I rarely eat seafood. I actually never ate fish unless I caught it until a couple years into Kev and my relationship (cause he loves fish, and was a fish monger). To end it we split dutch apple pie, kevin's fav. I can say I was full but I didn't feel grossly overstuffed. We came home then and fell into a food coma right when we hit the couch.

Good night had by us.

Oh this outfit, I've had the dress since the summer, it's a beautiful vintage piece I found with Jen. I've wore part of the dress on the blog, it's so silky and comfy. I wanted to go for neutrals with a pop of color. The only annoying thing is I hadn't worn those heels in a while and with tights my feet were sliding in them. I have super narrow feet so anything on the last hole in the buckle is usually still too big. Also heels make me taller than Kevin and most people, I'm a giant in heels. Sometimes I wish I was short, then I'd wear heels all the time... Oh well. I like the outfit, and what's this? I'm wearing makeup!!! Wowzers. That's rare. If I wear any it's usually just mascara and maybe eyeliner. I did a side bun with a french roll (not sure what it's called) around my head. I've been doing that a lot because I'm growing out my bangs. And do you see that! Kevin's mustache is MIA, I need to find it!

I'm only posting a couple pictures of what I wore to work yesterday because really they all looked like I was a zombie. So you get not the best shots. I really wanted to post these cause the skirt I'm wearing is actually a dress from Ebony for our Here to There trade. Sara just gave me a buncha clothes and I'm excited to wear them!

What's New?

Well I took a couple pictures at the gallery, but didn't really like how they came out. So I had Kevin take some pics when he got home. It's a day late for Tripp tuesday, but he always deserves some time on this blog.

So this is one of the blouses and skirts I also bought at the big UO sale I went to. I love this skirt, it's by the Cooperative brand which I now have a lot by that company, 3 dresses, two skirts, a top... I love their stuff a lot. Anyway I don't want to sound like a commercial, but I like them.

Last night while I was waiting for Kevin to get home, eating a burrito, and watching a bunch of cake shows on the tv, I remember I had cake mix, and Kevin's birthday is on Thursday. So I forced myself off my comfy couch and made him some cupcakes. I never use store bought icing so for these I made a poor man's chocolate mousse. I used a larger pack of instant chocolate pudding, made that with a little less milk then after it sets up you fold in a package of cool whip... It's soooo good... I already had one today. haha!

My Gallery pt.5

So I haven't done this is awhile, so here it is again. Rooms in my gallery! This is the 5th I think there are 4 more. It would be really awesome to take pictures in other showrooms with furniture and such, but most all the other showrooms are running by crabby ladies.

So this is usually the "Tutu" room because we usually have Gimpert Tutu paintings hanging up. But they are in other showrooms or have been sold off.

Well there really isn't much to say about this room, but the painting in the left corner of the pictures, the Maxfield Parrish-esque one, is from 1923 by a pretty well known photographer Kesseler who trained in painting. So that piece is pretty sweet.

So I'm wearing new clothes. Jen called me up on friday to see if I wanted to walk the mall with her after work. I hadn't seen her for a week pretty much, which is odd cause we live in the same house, so I agreed and we met up. But oh we just happened to be at Urban Outfitters when they were having a un-advertised 50% sale items... Droool. I love when you happen upon sales. I bought a dress (pictured), two long sleeve blouses (one pictured), two skirts, a knit vest, and a long sweater. Everything ended up being less then $15, most were $10.

I kinda feel bad cause my birthday is this weekend, but I couldn't pass it up. And of course I have guilt because yes I can make skirts and dresses, but not for less than $10 and I really don't have much time right now. And then also I should buy more thrift and vintage, but again I have no time, and vintage never fits my damn ribcage (that rant already happened in a last week post after trying on wedding dresses). So I mustn't feel guilty... There. Guilt's gone. haha. At least I only buy things on sale in stores. That counts right?

I was called Austrian, and german, and heidi-esque today, love it! Oh and my hair I loved, Kevin and I were looking through Charles Dana Gibson ink drawings last night in this book we got from the library (from 1906 nontheless! I want it!) And I decided that I'm a gibson girl. Long faced and long haired. haha

Honestly Honest

I loved my outfit today, I felt it was out the Zara website, but I wasn't liking my body in it at all. You can tell it's getting dark and dreary because everyone is getting self conscious and mopey. I know I shouldn't complain and I don't want to come off as a sad, whiny little girl but, after reading Morgan's post I realized anyone who isn't self conscious about something is lying.

Everyone sees their own flaws, even if they don't exist. I personally feel that I need to loose some weight to even feel like clothes look good on me. I look through these blogs, and you know which ones are some of the most successful? The girls with waif like proportions. I wish I could be like that, but it's hard to find a girl with a similar body type as me. I love blogging, and I've been doing it for years, but I wonder if it is hurting my self esteem.

I love blogging what I wear, it makes me get up in the morning and care about what I put on which gives me a smile of pride for the day. And I've met such amazing girls that I know our friendship will last after this phase. But I find myself more and more dissatisfied with my body and comparing myself more to these more naturally thin girls on the interwebs. With that I have been drawing myself away from blogs that give you a false sense of reality and girls that I find myself being jealous of their natural look, but in turn that draws me away from the blogging community. And that stinks. I get jealous that it seems that they workout minimally and I work out and never see any difference in the scale or the measuring tape, and I hold those feelings against lovely girls that have never done anything to me.

I want to create new relationships through this blog and community but I really don't feel any feedback. So then I start to think, why do people not like my blog? I like it, why don't you? And I know it's not a contest to see how many readers you get, but it does validate what you are doing when someone responds to the thoughts you've thrown out. I do try to respond to every comment, and I know I fail at it sometimes, but why does it seem that when I leave constructive comments daily, I get no response. This just fuels my insecurity of my size and weight, like well they just don't think clothes look good on me, or they see my pudgy arms and knees, etc. I know in my brain I'm not large but all I see is the chubby, awkward girl I was in highschool who was called fat and ugly. So I don't know, I'm in a conundrum, I love cataloging my outfits and taking fun pictures of my life, but I don't feel like it's very interesting to anyone else which in turn makes me think I shouldn't even bother.

(I don't want anyone who is a great reader of mine to feel offended, I love you all so much and cherish your comments! Jill, Nicole, Victoria, Sara, Ebony, Wangari, Terri, Tess, Christy, Ralph, Amber, Caitlin, oh and anyone else I forgot, you all keep me doing this, I love reading your comments!)

I know Sara and I have discussed this a lot, but what about you guys? Do you find yourself comparing your body more to these girls you admire through their blogs? Do you think one of the only ways to be an admired style blogger is to be thin? I know that this isn't law in the blog world, but do you feel like these blogs are just feeding into advertising's creation of the "ideal" female?

And on to the outfit, Sorry about the mopey post.
